Navaridas & Deutinger

UNSMELL open showing

Guest production

In their new work UNSMELL Marta Navaridas and Alex Deutinger engage intensively with scents. Scents as invisible carriers and triggers of experiences, memories, and emotions. Scents as assertions, as undeniable, ephemeral presences. Scents as mobile, subtle, and manipulative entities. As if endowed with a supernatural sense of smell, the two performers scour the space, following invisible trails and uncovering repressed fragments of memory, hidden feelings, and intimate secrets.

Biography
Marta Navaridas and Alex Deutinger are translators, choreographers, and performers working in the fields of contemporary dance and experimental theater. In their work, they blend text, live music, and gesture in unpredictable ways, playfully questioning social formats and habits of perception. The Graz-based and internationally touring artist couple uses dance, theatre and performance venues, as well as galleries, museums and public spaces as places for play and negotiation.
