Welcome to this non-standard rhythm special with Javier Areal Velez ( @javierarealvelez ) presenting „Trifásica“ (published by streak | @strlacrecords ).
This EP documents a live electronic set that challenges the limits of looping by layering independent, evolving rhythms. It transposes the logic of Latin American polyrhythms into post-digital landscapes of noisy samples, broken synths, and abrasive effects.

In performance, Javier operates a laptop running a semi-intelligent software system he programmed in Max/MSP and Ableton Live. Acting as an autonomous sequencer with its own agency, the system shapes each sound in real time—selecting samples, configuring synths, and defining pitch, duration, and effects. The resulting music emerges from a tense, ongoing negotiation between the machine and the human trying to control it.

Local support will be Arda Saraçoğlu ( @ardasaracogl.u ) a Graz based composer/sound designer/audio engineer interested in multichannel immersive audio and installations, currently studying Computermusik at the IEM Graz. Expect intricating glitchy soundscapes and rhythms diverging off the grid.
