Fruchtgenuss (Usufruct, 2024)
Fruchtgenuss is based on the life story of Bernadette Laimbauer’s father, who sold the family home to quit his job at an insurance company and travel the world. What remains are shredded documents piled into a heap of white dust. In the course of the show, Laimbauer slips into the role of three animals to address social behavior in relation to work and leisure and to ask herself and the audience what is to be done with a useless inheritance.
In German and English.
Double bill with Piotr Urbaniec.

Bernadette Laimbauer (1989, Gmunden, Austria) is an artist who combines elements of the performing and visual arts. Her performances range from scripted stage shows, live compositions, and performative sculptures in exhibitions to intimate rituals in hotel rooms or actions in public spaces. What unites them is spontaneous reaction in the moment. Improvisation and intuition play a major role. Laimbauer lives in Mooskirchen, Graz, and Linz.
For the third year in a row, steirischer herbst turns to cabaret and its capacity for gritty, gutsy social criticism. Six performances present a mix of burlesque, street chanson, stand-up, and macabre poetry in the intimate setting of Forum Stadtpark’s basement.
Commissioned and produced by steirischer herbst ʼ24.
