In early 2025, the kulturlandretten initiative was founded, in part as a reaction to the FPÖ’s reshuffling of the Cultural Board. Since then, individuals with clearly far-right views—and in some cases without discernible qualifications—sit on the state’s most important cultural policy advisory body. Much has happened since then; there have been protests and campaigns. Some progress has been made—but not in terms of reshuffling the board. Beyond that concrete fight, the questions arise: How can anti-fascist cultural work be effective today? How do we go on the offensive? And how can we effectively counter the continued far-right Seppizaton of Styria and its cultural landscape?
