Coalescence is a series of performance events exploring relationships and interactions between sound and movement. A group of artists from the fields of music and dance are invited to create and perform a piece together, based on a developed concept and structure and working with improvisation.
This year's edition is a piece inspired by the flickering of a flame and transforms it into sound and movement. This year's group of artists consists of Sinan Samanli (composer), Audrey G. Perreault (flutist and improviser), April Veselko (dancer and choreographer) and Anna Grenzner (cellist and improviser).
The event will be complemented by the projection of the short documentary film "Ploma. Dancing in Uncertainty’ (2023/24) about the working process of the LaKT Ensemble on the Plom(a) project, which was filmed and realised by the Graz-based Polish filmmaker Małgorzata Goździk.

ABOUT LAKT ENSEMBLE
LaKT Ensemble is a contemporary music ensemble focussed on exploring the relationships between sound and movement and new scenic approaches to music. Their belief in the potential to expand music through interdisciplinary work leads them to seek expanded musical expression through dramaturgy, lighting or costumes; to invite artists who place the body at the centre of their work, and to place a particular emphasis on the musicians' bodywork and movement. The group works on staging the existing musical repertoire in close collaboration with dancers and choreographers, stages its concerts, commissions new pieces from composers at the interface of sound and physicality, realises its own staged musical productions and curates the Coalescence series, where the ensemble invites external artists to collaborate.
