Allen Ginsberg 100

Forum Stadtpark 1980

In November 1980, Allen Ginsberg, arguably the most famous American poet of the second half of the 20th century, performed at the FORUM STADTPARK. For over an hour and a half, accompanied by his companions Peter Orlovsky on banjo and Steven Taylor on guitar, Ginsberg performed songs and poems to an enthusiastic, packed house. Forty years later, author, filmmaker, and literary scholar Thomas Antonic discovered an unreleased recording of the performance in the ORF archives.

To mark Ginsberg’s 100th birthday in 2026, Antonic is releasing this sensational find as a double album (vinyl only!!) on the record label Unrequited Records, run by poet and archivist Tate Swindell in San Francisco.

Antonic and Swindell will present the album at the historic site where the recording was made, in the basement of the FORUM STADTPARK. They will be joined by Graz-based writer Günter Eichberger, who was in the audience in 1980 at the age of 21. Julia Knaß will host the evening.

The strictly limited first edition of the album on purple 180g vinyl will be available on-site.
