Friendships carry us through everyday life and crises, creating a sense of responsibility and opening up spaces beyond those of the privileged, heteronormative nuclear family. The BFFF makes these bonds visible, reframing forms of commitment and conceiving of friendship as both a political and an intimate practice. What rights, recognition, and future do our chosen families deserve?
BFFF is a big festival of friendship bringing together guests from the fields of art and literature, theory and practice. With them, we will discuss the significance of friendship in everyday life, politics, and society – as well as how this type of relationship might gain the recognition it has long deserved.
Organized and curated by Laura Kerschbaumsteiner, Rivka Saltiel, the Programmforum, and the Music Team
