St.A.i.R. Solmaz Farhang

St.A.i.R. (Styria-Artist in Residence)

Solmaz Farhang is an Iranian-born interdisciplinary artist based in London, working across photography, video art, assemblage, drawing, and multimedia installations. She is an Associate Lecturer at the University of the Arts London and a graduate of the MA Art and Science programme at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. She is also a co-founder of the eco-feminist art collective Danube Transformation Agency for Agency (DTAFA).

Central to her artistic practice is an exploration of storytelling and speculative thinking, through which she engages with themes of identity, ecology, and the relationship between humans and nature. She approaches human entanglements from a paradoxical perspective, playing with everyday objects to create unexpected, sometimes absurd and provocative juxtapositions. In doing so, she engages with uncertainty and questions established ways of knowing.

Solmaz Farhang has exhibited her work in venues such as Humber Street Gallery (UK), Forum Stadtpark Graz (AT), the Natural History Museum of Vienna (AT), the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BA), Ars Electronica Linz (AT), MuseumsQuartier Vienna (AT), Kunsthalle Exnergasse (AT), Angewandte Interdisciplinary Lab (AT), the Etiuda & Anima Festival (PL), and the European Capital of Culture in Novi Sad, Serbia (RS).
