In conversation with Lea-Riccarda Prix, Eva von Redecker presents her new book Dieser Drang nach Härte (S. Fischer, 2026). The theory of fascism developed therein emphasizes that right-wing mobilization succeeds against the backdrop of a closed-off future. It capitalizes on destruction. Neither moral appeals nor the paradigm of industrial production can counter this dynamic. Yet a “different” kind of work—one that is transformative and at the same time needs-oriented and sustaining—can reopen the future without having to repress enduring suffering.
With Eva von Redecker (HfbK Hamburg) and Lea-Riccarda Prix (TU Dortmund).

The talk will be held in German.
