Stadt Streiten Spezial: Reality check Reininghaus - wasted opportunity or a district worth living in?
The Reininghausgründe are the largest urban development project in Graz. Opinions on it could not be more different: For some, Reininghaus is an urbanistic best-practice model, for others a wasted opportunity. Criticisms include deserted squares, undemocratic processes, a project controlled by investors and a lack of experimental implementation. But despite all these opposing opinions, there was no major public controversy surrounding this project of the century.
In the meantime, facts have been cast in concrete. Reininghaus has become home to more and more people. It's time to heat things up and let different perspectives meet.
What is left of the visions?
How does the district function (or not)?
Who is welcome here and who is not?
What are we arguing about and what should we be arguing about?
