Since the beginning of the 20th century, Ukraine has been subjected to incessant devastation: war, fascism, anti-Semitism, Stalinism, exploitation, nuclear contamination and poverty. Through the war of aggression, since February 2022, this history of suffering is experiencing a cruel continuation that has global repercussions. Sánchez Cedillo shows historically, geographically, and conceptually the relations between modern war, empires, subjectivizations, and their machines. In doing so, he also dismantles the neoliberal and neuropolitical, racist, misogynist, and anti-LGBTIQ scaffolding that supports the war regime and its overall capitalist command. Neither utopian nor voluntarist: starting from social inventions that make a political perspective possible in the first place, he argues for an ecology of the common, for new institutions of democratic counter-power, for a constituent peace, and makes proposals for an emancipatory politics in times of ubiquitous militarization and the propagandistic simplifications that accompany it.
